The House of Lustau, extends an invitation to all bartenders and those aspiring cocktail gurus that are willing to create a unique recipe and enter its fourth annual Solera Standout Cocktail Competition. This highly acclaimed brand has produced extraordinary sherry wines, brandies and vermouths for over 120 years and welcomes these expert’s mixing skills in its search for the Standout’s 2019 master cocktail. The Lustau team is promoting the contest nationwide for all bartenders and mixologists to enter the competition for a chance to win a trip to Spain and become the ultimate champion of the cash grand prize. How it works:
Open to mixologists in the United States, participants can only submit one entry and they must use at least two products from The House of Lustau as ingredients in their original recipe, which include Sherry, Brandy de Jerez, Vermouth or Vinegar. Total ingredients shall not exceed six (6) oz. or seven (7) ingredients including drops, dashes and rinses. All recipes must include a full list of ingredients and preparation/mixing instructions, as well as an image of the cocktail.
Preliminary Judging:
A judging panel comprised of Lustau Brand Ambassadors will review and score all entries based on a point-scoring system, choosing the best recipes judged on name, originality, appearance, presentation, inspiration, creativity and flavor.
Semifinals:
Industry experts Lynette Marrero co-founder of the world’s first all-female speed bartending competition “Speed Rack” and Tom Richter, NYC based expert Sherry mixologist, will apply the point system scoring to award the top 4 cocktails that will head out to Spain’s finals in September 2019.
Finals:
The House of Lustau will host the four finalists for a week in Madrid and the Sherry region in Spain where they will experience the world of Lustau and compete for the title of ultimate Solera Standout 2019 cocktail champion.
